These thick, fudgy homemade cosmic brownies are 10x better than storebought and went TikTok viral with over 13 million views! Topped with a creamy homemade chocolate ganache (made without heavy cream!) and rainbow chip sprinkles, these brownies are truly out-of-this-world delicious.

If you want clean edges when slicing these homemade cosmic brownies, I recommend chilling them for a bit first so they are cold. If I'm taking pics and wanting really clean slices, I will even go so far as to rinse the knife under hot water and wipe it with paper towels between each slice. Also, try to do one quick slice, rather than dragging the knife through the brownies, which can cause them to tear and stick to the knife.
Well, not only are these a copycat of those brownies but because they are homemade they are so much better. They are nut-free and safe for school lunches and bake sales, they make a great afternoon snack with a cold glass of milk and of course perfect for an after-dinner dessert.
I hope you guys love these vegan homemade cosmic brownies as much as I do! They're rich, chocolatey, and tastes just as good (actually, better) than the brownies from your childhood. Enjoy with a big glass of milk... or pack one in your lunchbox next to a PB&J sandwich for maximum authenticity ?
Ah, the downsides of using volumetric measurements of flour! It's a bummer to have to keep a scale, but for recipes trying to balance fudgy with cooked, different brands or batches can make all the difference if you only have the volume. Maybe it would be worth adding the weight in parenthesis for people who do have a scale?
made these brownies. first time i made homemade brownies that came out fudgy-ly perfect! love the time you took to get the recipe right and the photos (it tempted me into trying :) ) heading to the store after work so i can buy buttermilk for your cinnamon rolls. if you took the hassle out of yeast, you are about to become my favorite baker! thank you again!
Hi ElleI just went to your site to try to find your brownie recipe and I did. Looks like our recipes are indeed similar but yours are baked in a 913 pan, mine are baked in a 99 and yours use almost double the amount of flour that mine do. And yours use baking powder, whereas I never put leaveners in my brownies. And your recipe for ganache is different than mine, too.
Looks like we both like our homemade Cosmic brownies but I wanted to point out the differences in our recipes. Someone just yesterday reprinted my recipe for these on her site so yes, I agree, recipes to get recycled and reprinted and adapted, although I started my recipe off by adapting two of my own previous brownie recipes.
Other than drama-free lunch tables, cosmic brownies were the absolute highlight of my elementary school lunchtime career. There's something about the colorful chocolate chips and dense, fudgy brownie that just can't be beat. Unfortunately, this also probably had something to do with preservatives or artifical flavors, but that was the least of my worries back in those days! When a craving for them recently struck me, I was glad to find that there are plenty of copycat recipes out there that you can make right in your own kitchen. I wouldn't call these brownies healthy by any means, but they're definitely a delicious and adorable nostalgic treat. Plus, I always feel better when I know exactly what's in the food I'm eating.
Hi hi! I am just popping in to share the recipe for homemade cosmic brownies with you! I love making homemade brownies, and once I got a great fudgy brownie recipe nailed, I started to play around with variations of it.
I love having one great back pocket recipe that is super versatile and this brownie recipe is certainly it. You can take the one recipe and make cheesecake brownies, brookies, brownie pie, and now these perfect homemade cosmic brownies!
It is important to note the type of salt that is called for in a recipe. I use Diamond Crystal salt throughout my recipes - if you use a different sort of kosher salt or regular table salt you will need to adjust accordingly as some salt is 'saltier' than others. Morton's salt is twice as salty, so you will need half the quantity. Same goes for a regular table salt. I am working to get gram measurements throughout my recipes for salt but still getting there.
I post my recipes in grams as it is the most accurate way to bake. Cups are not only inaccurate but they vary in volume worldwide. There is no way for me to provide one cup measure that works for everyone. However, posting in weight fixes this issue. If you would like the recipe in cups you are welcome to convert it yourself via google, but please do not ask me to do it for you as I am not comfortable providing a recipe using a method that I have not tested. Baking with a scale is easy, accurate, and also makes cleanup super simple. Here is the scale that I use if you would like a recommendation! Here's to accurate baking!
My recipes range from quick & easy all the way to complex & impressive. I love the science and process of recipe development almost as much as baking itself. I specialize in rigorously tested recipes that are fun, reliable, and accurate.

If you enjoy making homemade cosmetics, this post is of particular relevance as we outline the most important steps and things to consider when making your own cosmetics at home. We want you to get the best out of your natural cosmetic ingredients, to avoid not only wasting them but also, importantly, to ensure you are creating safe cosmetics.
You must measure your ingredients, both liquids and solids, by weight using a digital scale. Measurement in weight is the most accurate method and will allow you to have the right balance of ingredients in your formulation. Finding a good scale is important when you start making homemade skincare.
One of the main reasons why people create homemade cosmetic products is that they want to know what is inside their beauty products, as the results of our survey on understanding the drive for green beauty shows. We should point out that not only the ingredients themselves are important, but also how they are used in formulation. As mentioned above, it is essential to follow the usage recommendations for many cosmetic ingredients, and some of them, if used in wrong amounts, may cause dermal sensitisation.
As we saw, the key issue in making your homemade skincare products is that of avoiding contamination during any stage in formulating and also when the product is used. Choosing the right preservative system is a very important step for the success of your homemade products. However, you need to think also about how best to avoid contamination during the production of your skincare.
These brownies are perfect with a glass of milk or even a big scoop of ice cream (a la mode). This homemade childhood favorite will have you completely forgetting about the store bought stuff! Happy baking!
I made this recipe a few weeks ago and then I made them again today - they're just so delicious. They are better than the Little Debbies brownies. Eating this took me back to my childhood but it's even better because they're homemade and taste amazing.
Absolutely loved following along on IG for all the brownie recipes. Happy to say I tried almost all of them and the cosmic brownies were definitely a family favorite. Absolutely chewy and gooey and downright moist. Will absolutely make this again!
